When I was young, me and my cousins would get together at my grandparents and play all day long. I have vivid memories of my cousin Heather gathering the cousins in the living room and putting on concerts with my Grandpa's different instruments. As the oldest cousin, she was the lead singer, of course.

After my grandparents passed away, I wrote this song in their honor. While working on my album, I thought it would be fun to get the band back together - or at least some of us! For this version of the song, Heather came over and joined me in singing this tribute to two wonderful people that meant so much to so many people.

Well let me tell you a story
Of one that passed, on a lover’s day
The other sat there a waitin’
Four days at the steps of the Maker’s gate

They claimed their love in the wildwood
Moved out west and settled in
Made a livin’, raised their family
Four kids, one dog, and a silhouette den

Well Pa, he told his tall tales
Tyin’ flies ‘n cigs in his liquor store
Each tale it had it’s meaning
Each tune, diff’rent than before

As time drew near
We all knew too clear
As the teller’s tales grew thin

That voice turned faint
And the flame swept away
To be carried by the next of kin, the next of kin
