BIRDHOUSE
Never thought I’d fly again
To this side of town
I’m picking up the pieces
Till they’re all found

Each shrapnel of this bomb you sent
Will be made whole
Juxtapose catastrophe
Into laughter for my soul

And we fear and we hold on
To the song

And we’re near to the places
We left off

I start to hear the whispers, and find it’s
The bird’s house I’m in

And we ease a little closer, to end up
Where we begin

Always thought I’d fly again
To this side of town
The pieces of my heart
Still sprinkled around

Why serendipity always
Comes falling down like rain
From clouds spun high above
In a whimsical refrain

And my blood turns whiskey
Into wine

And this heart still beats
While I am dying
